How do the boys get the boxes open? And what do they find inside? Something valuable, surely, or why would the author call her book Treasures for Tomás And something more valuable than the contents the boxes eventually revealed. Tomás and Dan go to work on the mystery. How the solution involves a Cuban refugee family and helps Mr Aragón solve his employment problem makes a satisfying story for primary boys. Girls will like it too, especially the part where Silvia, Tomás's ten-year-old sister, gives a push to the boys detective work.
